On November 10, about 800 workers, including 147 Jichiroren members, took part in the central action for the 2023 fall and year-end struggles in Tokyo. Prior to this, Jichiroren conducted its own action in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, calling on the Japanese government to demand a halt to Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and the still ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Jichiroren President Shingo Sakurai pointed out, “The Japanese government has recognized Israeli acts as the ‘right to self-defense.’ This means Japan’s Self-Defense Forces could be allowed to act the same as Israel in the name of ‘self-defense’ when Japan possesses an enemy base attack capability.” He stressed, “Let’s send out a message that human be

About 100 people joined a protest calling for an immediate halt to the Israel-Gaza conflict in front of Hiroshima Electric Railway Hondori Station in Naka-ku, Hiroshima City, on November 2.

This protest, “Stop the Israel-Gaza Conflict Now! Don’t kill civilians! Don’t kill children!” Hiroshima Appeal Action, was organized by a citizens’ organization, Hiroshima Kyodo-Center for the Constitution and Peace.

Speaking through a microphone, Hiroshima Jichiroren Executive Committee member Miki Ogawa said, “Local people [in Gaza] can only flee for their lives. Let’s call a halt to the battle from Japan.”

Hiroshima Jichiroren Secretary General Rie Hamasaki also spoke at the rally, said that protecting and utilizing the Japanese Constitution is a pillar of Jichiroren’s activities. She reminded participants that November 3 marked the 77th anniversary of the promulgation of the Constitution and stressed, “In this milestone year, the Japanese government should make diplomatic efforts so that countries around the world will adopt an article like Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution. Let’s strive to eliminate the sources of conflict.”

At the end of the action, participants chanted, “Stop fighting! Don’t kill civilians! Don’t kill children! Stop fighting now!”
